Professor Dr. h.c. mult. Israel Gohberg gehört zu den bedeutensten lebenden Mathematikern und trug am 23. Oktober 2003 im Kolloquium des Mathematischen Instituts der TU Clausthal vor. Er hat bis heute über 460 mathematische Arbeiten veröffentlicht. Professor Gohberg hielt seinen Vortrag auf Einladung von Prof. Michael Demuth, der in der von Prof. Gohberg herausgegebenen Reihe zur Operatortheorie eine Unterserie herausgibt.
